Problems Using Bumbos Recall Hotline, Website

The maker of the infant seat Bumbo says the company briefly took down its website and fixed problems to its hotline because of technical difficulties.

It's asking people to be patient and keep trying.

The goal is to make sure everyone's mailed a free recall kit, which consists of a warning sticker and a strap to help babies from being able to wiggle out or fall out of the seats.

Bumbos, which cost $30 to $50, have been sold online and at various department stores for the past nine years.

So far there have been reports of infants suffering 20 skull fractures and 84 falls while using them.

As many point out on Facebook, the seat can be used safely if parents supervise its use and keep it on the floor, never a raised surface.

Also remember Bumbos are not meant to be used forever. Children will outgrow it and some may only use it for about three weeks.
