Swiss drug manufacturer, Novartis has voluntarily recalled several over-the-counter medications because they may have accidentally been mixed with prescription drugs.

The affected brands are Excedrin, Bufferin, No Doz, or Gas-X.

Novartis has received more than 150 complaints of the mistakes from people who were finding broken and chipped pills as well as mislabeled bottles.

Those problems led inspectors to shutdown the company's plant in Lincoln, Nebraska.

What they now know is that powerful prescription drugs like Percocet and Endocet, which both contain Oxycodone, could be mixed in with the bottles of Excedrin, Bufferin, No Doz and Gas-X.

Pharmacy manager, Michael O'Neal says, "You need to definitely be concerned about the side affects if the drugs are mixed. Some of the drugs that could've been mixed caused a lot more drowsiness than just your Excedrin or your Bufferin."

So far, there are no reports of people becoming ill from taking the wrong pills. If you have any of the medication, the company says don't take them.

Novartis will give you a refund.

You also can call the company at 1-888-477-2403 or talk to your local pharmacist for help.

Two links are posted below, including a link to the full list of recalled products.
