Gold Star Sausage of Denver is recalling an undetermined amount of chili products because they contain an undeclared allergen, soy, is not listed on the label.
The products being recalled are 16 ounce plastic containers of “Johnson’s Chili” and 16 ounce plastic containers of “Johnson’s Chili, Hot & Spicy”
Each package bears the establishment number “1106” inside the USDA mark of inspection as well as a packaging date.
The products were packaged in Colorado from February 15, 2010 to February 15, 2011, and shipped to wholesalers nationwide. The recall covers all products produced in that time frame by the company.
The USDA determined that the labels read "lecithin," not “soy lecithin” as it should. There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a health care provider.
If you have questions about the recall, contact the company’s President, Rick Rue at (303) 295-6400 ext. 302.
