As joyous and festive as we all want the holiday season to be, it’s also a prime time for theft. KKTV 11 News and Mr. Biggs teamed up to help people learn how to protective themselves from one particular type—identity theft.
Identity theft is common during the holidays, as credit card use for many people is at a higher level than the rest of the year. Despite our best efforts, with so much personal information getting put out there over and over again, crooks are given more opportunities to intercept it. But there are protective measures than can be taken.
On Wednesday, 11 News Call For Action hosted a free Identity Theft Seminar at Mr. Biggs. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has arranged for Hazel Heckers, a victim’s right advocate and an expert on identity theft, to speak. Heckers was at the seminar from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
