Fountain Utilities says that they have become aware of a utilities scam being carried out on their customers.
Several businesses have received calls from an out-of-state area code, in which the person on the line claims to represent Fountain Utilities. Customers are told that if they do not make a payment immediately over the phone, their utilities will be turned off.
The calls are coming from an 808 area code, which is out of Hawaii.
Fountain Utilities customers are advised that if they do receive a call from someone claiming to work for the company, not to divulge any personal information, including their utility account number.
If you think you may have been a victim of this scam, contact Fountain Utilities immediately. That number is 322-2010.
