Volunteers are staffing KKTV's Call for Action hotline from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. every weekday to offer guidance for those who are dealing with issues related to the Waldo Canyon wildfire.
The additional hours began Monday. Anyone requiring assistance can call 719-457-8211.
One of the reasons we want to be your vital link to information is because of all the questions coming into our 11Call for Action office.
We've heard from homeowners getting insistent calls from a roofing company offering inspections.
We're checking into those and believe they're coming from an out-of-town company.
Make sure any contractor you hire is licensed to do business here and has liability insurance.
Check them out first before you must sign anything and feel free to call us. We'll do the research for you.
And, you've been telling us that insurance companies have warned your homeowner insurance rates will go up if you file a claim.
I'm told with the recent hail storm and now the devastating wildfires, it's possible rates could rise.
In the coming days we'll be checking into that.
One thing you should know, the Insurance Commissioner's office tells me if you're in an evacuated or pre-evacuated area... don't make any changes to your policy yet. We'll have more in the coming days.
One more thing: thanks to everyone who offered their services as a volunteer, answering phones in our 11Call for Action office.
We've been overwhelmed by your outpouring of support.
