Beware: Scam Using Wells Fargo Name Resurfaces

If you have a cell phone you're likely to get a call.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my questions on Facebook.

It seems Verizon wireless customers aren't the only ones getting fraudulent messages and calls.

I heard from Sprint, AT&T, Virgin Mobile, and Cricket users, too.

Wells Fargo tells me a lot of folks are getting text messages and automated calls to their wireless phones.

The message claims to be from Wells Fargo. It says your debit card is "limited". Some are asked to pass on the last four digits of their social security number.

Others are asked to input their 16-digit credit card number to reactiviate it.

Don't do it.

Wells Fargo tells me these calls are all random and a lot of them are coming in late at night after banks are closed to scare you.

Banks want you to know they'll never ask for your personal or account information. If you're a customer they already have it.

If you have any questions, call the number on the back of your card. Don't call the number sent to you in a text or automated message.

If you think the crooks won't target you .. think again.
I got a call on my cell just a few days ago.

Received call on 10/19 from Wells Fargo informing me that my card was suspended and that I needed to press one to verify my information. Knowing this was a scam because we dont have any business through Wells Fargo, i pushed #1. They wanted me to enter my 16 diget card number, so i put in a fake one and then it asked for me to enter my birthday, entered a fake one and then it asked for my SS# in which I finally hung up. Have not received a call since. My husband received the call the day before and then again about 15 minutes before I received my call on my cell phone. DONT GIVE OUT ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION PLEASE!

I received a text message from phone # 541-601-5493 which said "WELLS FARGO NOTICE: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at: 541-767-8503." I knew it was a scam because I don't have a Wells Fargo account.

Got the call on my cell today, a recording claiming to be Wells Fargo saying something about my debit card being frozen, prompted me to give the last four digits of my SS#. When I tried calling the number back, said the number was invalid. Very mean and nasty!

We received an email from what appeared to be Wells Fargo, but it was obvious this was a scam. We deal with Wells Fargo and the email was not from them. Be aware.

I received a similar call on Friday from "Academy Bank". It was a restricted number so I let it go to voicemail. The message said my debit card was unavailable and when I called the bank they confirmed no call had been initiated by them.

Not calls but text messages at 1 and 2 in the morning. when you call the number back it tells you to reactivate your card type in your 16 digit number. I knew it was not right because I don't have a wells fargo card.
