Call For Action

An Air Force captain preparing to deploy to Iraq is plagued with continuous flooding in his basement until a local non-profit steps in to help.

Call For Action reporter Betty Sexton received a desperate call from Captain Jason Holder. He needed help and didn't know where to turn.

Captain Holder is preparing to deploy to Iraq and didn't want to leave things at his Peyton home unsettled. He has spent thousands of dollars trying to fix a flooded basement, only to learn his problems were far bigger than he could have ever imagined.

The Holder family has placed fans around the basement, but they'll still have to replace pad, carpet, baseboard, and other damaged items.

But, the problem is the water keeps coming. Call For Action reporter Betty Sexton called Homefront Cares, a local group whose sole mission is to help families of deployed troops in times of crisis.

Homefront Cares got work underway on the outside. A&J Sewer and Drain, as well as Triple A Ditching spent three days working on the problem.

"We found the waters coming in from the streets side, coming towards his house, not coming from his house.... so it's a little frustrating." Says Joe Monaco from A&J Sewer and Drain.

Woodmen Hills Metro District, responsible for water and sewer in Captain Holder's neighborhood, called together a team of engineers, and finally water streaming onto Holder's property was stopped.

Left behind, is a $25,000 - $30,000 bill. A price tag Woodmen Hill Metro District Manger Time Hunker says Captain Holder won't have to pay, and should be taken care of through insurance. "We've turned in a claim for his damages, and then we have district engineers looking into making sure it's not a larger problem throughout the system."

The Homefront Cares helps all branches of deployed troops. Donations from local companies and individuals go directly to those in need.

I sent an e-mail over a month ago? about a computer rip off company. I thought that Call for Action would help, but to date, I have not even heard from them. I would have at least liked to have received a Go to heck message...but nothing .

I just want to let everyone know that if you go to any Target and they offer you the 10% discount, you will only receive the discount if you are approved and only up to $20 even if you purchase more than $200 worth of items. They market that you will receive 10% off of total amount and they are not telling the truth.

World Gym was purchased by Planet Fitness and will not provide refund for remaining membership term. No mechinism exists for members that are unhappy with the rude treatment of customers. The attitude of Plant Fitness is: "If You Don't Like We Will Terminate Your Membership and There Is Nothing You CAn Do AboutIt".
