The Insurance Information Institute has come up with free, downloadable software that ensures during times of crisis you're prepared.

This family's not showing off new goodies. No, they're taking an inventory of items they'd want replaced if they were ever stolen or destroyed.
It used to be that taking an inventory of your belongings was difficult and confusing, but not anymore. New software has changed that.
Jeanne Salvatore with the Insurance Information Institute says, "we're offering free downloadable software to make a home inventory simple and easy. It will help speed up the claims process."
The new software takes you through each room in your house. It also tells you what kind of information you need to collect, like receipts if you can find them... and places of purchase... plus, make and model numbers of big items.
Insurance agent, Michael McMartin says, "We've found that when our clients have done some type of inventory, whether it is a video inventory or kept written records, that what they'll find is the claims process works smoother, faster, and I think they get a fairer settlement when they have prepared for a loss."
Once your inventory's complete... update it when you buy something new.
Besides storing the inventory in your computer... save it on a disk... plus, back that up by emailing it to a friend or relative... who also can hang onto it for you.
