Three tips to prepare your lawn and garden for winter.
#1: Fertilize now. The idea is not to promote root grow, but to give your lawn kind of a bedtime snack.
#2: Check out this $13 frost blanket. No you won't want to cuddle up with it. It's porous and provides protections, allowing air and water to pass through.
#3: Drain your sprinkler system's above ground vacuum drainer. If warm temps continue through the Fall, you may be kicking yourself if you shut down your entire sprinkler system now.
Mike Estes from Rick's Garden Center believes it's critical to water on these warm days, which we may have more of before Thanksgiving.
He says our lawns desperately need water and nutrients to keep them going.
