Customers To Get More Control Of Junk Mail

The Direct Marketing Association, the leading trade association for catalog and other direct mail businesses, has relaunched its portal site for consumers.
You'll now be able to edit how much physical mail as well as email you receive.
You can now head to the site, DMAchoice.org and register for free... choosing which businesses and catalogs you want to get... and which credit card offers and catalogs you want to check out. Plus, the site allows you to control the frequency of the mailings by connecting you directly to the merchants.
Opt-outs will now be valid for a three-year period. Before this relaunch, you could only totally opt-out, meaning you'd receive no direct mail at all.
DMA says the goal is to build a community where consumers can interact with marketers, learn about one-time opportunities, special offers, promotions, and coupons.
DMA choice says it already serves four million registered consumers and does not share consumer information with third parties.
The Direct Marketing Association represents more than 3,400 companies from catalog retailers like L.L.Bean to financial service companies like American Express.
