He's the accused ringleader of an ID theft ring with victims all across southern Colorado.
Thursday, Scott Martin will face a judge.
According to court papers, Martin had 20 people working under him, stealing mail, breaking into cars, using victims' personal information to make counterfeit checks, which were then passed around business from Castle Rock to Pueblo.
Authorities say they recorded phone conversations between Martin and a girlfriend, in which he allegedly walked her through a plan to make a fake check in the amount of $236,000 to bond him out of jail, then leave the country for a place that doesn't extradite suspects to the U.S.
Martin has been at the center of 11 News Call for Action investigations since 2010 when Martin's company lost one family's dog and refused to give a refund. It was ultimately found that the dog had been given to another family--and then euthanized.
Martin is being held at the CJC on 12 charges. If convicted, he could spend decades behind bars.
