January 4th, 2010: Midweek Blast from the Arctic ( Brian Bledsoe )

After a brief reprieve from the really cold air, it looks like another shot of cold air is due for midweek.  Recently, most of northern Canada has had temperatures well below zero and today was no exception.  Check it out:

While we likely won't see temperatures quite that cold, late Wednesday and Thursday will provide a pretty good shock to the system.  Luckily for us, the core of the coldest air will be felt in the Plains and Midwest.  By late Wednesday, the front should be completely through Southern Colorado:

Some snow and wind will occur with this front, but snow amounts do not look to become an issue.  An inch or two here or there, but nothing that would snarl travel.  High temperatures on Thursday likely won't get out of the lower to middle teens for most of us.  So, get ready for more cold...

Yeah, I've noticed that too. We've had some awfully cold periods of time and almost no snow. This storm seems to be no exception. It's going to be really cold, but little to no precip. Wierd.

Man...what is with all these SUPER cold fronts coming in? The last several have been extremely cold, but very little snow. What gives? I thought el nino meant above ave temps, but above ave precip too? I always joke, It's a waste of cold when there isn't any snow with it!
