Gustav Flooding & An Active Atlantic...

Gustav continues to weaken, now that it is over land.  However, it still remains quite organized and has a ton of moisture.  That being said, the remnants of Gustav will continue to provide a flood threat for far southeastern Oklahoma, eastern Texas, southern Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana.  Below is the official forecast track through the next 5 days ( first graphic), and the 5 day rain potential ( second graphic ):

Notice the huge bullseye of 10 to 20 inches of rain through the Mississippi Valley states.  Plus, another rain bullseye over the Southeast US and the Mid-Atlantic states.  That will be associated with Hanna.  Check out Hanna below:

Satellite Imagery:

The storm looks pretty good, considering it has had to deal with strong shear on the northern side.  The environment will gradually become more favorable for intensification later this week.  The problem ?  It will likely threaten the Southeast Coast by late week.

Official Forecast Track:

A lot of uncertainty still exists with the evolution of Hanna.  However given how it has favored today in less than ideal conditions, this looks like it will be one to watch.

Speaking of one to watch, Ike has formed in the Eastern Atlantic.

Official Forecast Track:

Ike already looks impressive, and it looks like it will continue on its westward course for the next several days.  It too looks like it will get stronger, and could threaten the Bahamas as early as next weekend.  This is the traditional peak of the hurricane season, and it is true to form.
