There are a lot of signals that suggest that this hurricane season will be a pretty active one.  June and July are usually pretty quiet months.  Few storms are noted, but sometimes they can be pretty sizeable storms.  We have one of those such storms now.  Bertha has reached CAT 3 status, with sustained winds 120 mph with gusts to 150 mph.  At the present time, Bertha doesn't look like she will impact the US.  However, there is a good deal of uncertainty around the day 5 timeframe.  It may clip Bermuda and head out to sea, or it could stay more westerly.  Time will tell, but the season is underway with a pretty big storm.  Below is the official forecast track from The National Hurricane Center and here is the link to one of my favorite tropical sites:  http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/
