Hurricane Earl

Hurricane Earl is a beast right now.  Check out the satellite presentation below:

Earl rapidly intensified on Sunday night and early Monday morning and boy is it a classic looking 'cane.  A category 4 hurricane to be more specific...  Thankfully, Puerto Rico did not take a direct hit from Earl or they would really be in bad shape.  Earl is now north of the island and will threaten mainly the open waters of the Atlantic, IF the forecast track verifies:

NHC shows Earl coming dangerously close to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, before heading toward parts of New England.  It is unlikely that Earl will venture too much farther west, but some of our computer models show a more westerly track.

It will be interesting to see if Earl curves later than the models are suggesting.  The one good thing is that the models are very tightly packed together in their forecast tracks, which should bode well for a solid forecast.  More on Earl tomorrow...
