I have always considered myself an "active" person. I currently run about 20 miles per week. I enjoy running. I do a lot of thinking during that time, and I feel GREAT afterwards. However, I have been wanting a new challenge... and I've found it!
I have signed up to ride in the Tour de Cure on May 14th to benefit the American Diabetes Association. The event has a ride for everybody to get involved including a 14-mile ride, a 50-mile ride and an 86-mile ride. I have decided to go LARGE!, and try to conquer the 86-mile monster!
The good people at Carmichael Training Systems in Colorado Springs have jumped on board too! They will be training me for my big day. Over the next four months, I will be riding five days a week to get in "biking shape." I will be blogging about the training (and the bumps and bruises that go along with) a few times a week right here on KKTV.com. We will also feature a cycling segment with coaches from Carmichael Training Systems every other Sunday on 11 News at 10 starting on January 30th.
I would love for you to get involved too! Please join the KKTV Sports team to ride alongside me on May 14th as we help the ADA raise money to fight this terrible disease. If you sign up on my team, the ADA will waive the $15.00 registration fee (code: KKTV)... you can sign up for any of the three races as a member of the KKTV Sports team. If riding is not your cup of tea, and you still want to help, I would love for you to sponsor me with a donation to the ADA! Together we can make a difference.
You can sign up for my team, or sponsor my ride by logging onto http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?pg=personal&fr_id=7690&px=6494069.
If you have any questions, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks! Hope to see ya on the road!
