Make-up Please!!! (Jesse Kurtz)

Tuesday morning I was honored to take part in a photo shoot for the May edition of Peak Region Cyclist. Imagine... Me, a cover model???

Irina Shayk get ready to take a back seat!  The 2011 Sports Illustrated Cover-girl has got NOTHING on me!  Well, other than she's got incredible looks, lots of money and her own swimsuit line.  But we do have one thing in common.  We both are cover-"models" for a magazine.

Peak Region Cyclist Magazine will be featuring an article on my training for the upcoming Tour de Cure in its May issue.  This week, the president of the magazine, David Pico asked me if I would be interested in a photo shoot for the article and to be on the COVER of next month's issue.  Me, a cover model?  That's a new one!  I thought you had to be easy on the eyes???  Oh well, at least I have the make-up thing down (TV Secret... shhhhh).

Tuesday morning, David and the magazine's talented photographer, Joel Strayer accompanied me to Gold Camp Road to take some action shots of me riding in my Tour de Cure gear.  Joel took a TON of shots, most of which will end up on the "cutting room floor", to get a few that will make me look like I know what I'm doing.  Joel even was hanging out of the back door of a Jeep Cherokee taking pictures of me riding behind the vehicle to get some cool action shots.  I was just hoping he didn't roll out of the truck because I'm not sure I'm good enough on the bike yet to have avoided running over him (or even worse his expensive camera).

I am so honored that Peak Region Cyclist has taken an interest in my training and ride for the American Diabetes Association.  The upcoming article will focus on why I got involved in the cause, the training that I've been doing with the Pro's at Carmichael Training Systems and how you can get involved in the ride yourself.  Look for it on newsstands soon!  I'll be the ugly guy on the cover! LOL.

Here's hoping this "cover shoot" doesn't mimic the Sports Illustrated Jinx!   I need all the help I can get!

I will keep you updated on my progress right here on this blog. I'd love to have you ride with me in the Tour de Cure to help raise money for the American Diabetes Association. If you sign up on my team (KKTV Sports), the ADA will waive the $15.00 registration fee (code: KKTV).  You can sign up for any of the three races as a member of the KKTV Sports team. If riding is not your cup of tea, and you still want to help, I would love for you to sponsor me with a donation to the ADA! Together we can make a difference.
