Baseball Cards, Box Scores and Backyard Ball: Impulse shopping. (Farnsworth)

Did you ever play Wiffle Ball as a kid growing up? Well, this is my short story on how an innocent stroll into K-Mart ended up with the invention of the KKTV Wiffle Ball League.

Those of you who know me personally know very well that I am one of the world’s stingiest penny pinchers. I don’t like to spend money on something unless I feel like I absolutely need it.

So when I walked into the K-Mart next door to my station this weekend I never expected to even pull my wallet from my back pocket. But I did.
I was just running in and out when my glance caught a beautiful sight in the distance. Hanging on the back wall of the store was none other than a long, skinny, yellow bat wrapped in plastic. It was a Wiffle Ball set!
And for only four dollars, you had to know this was coming home with me.
Now, sitting in the back seat of my car is the bat and ball patiently waiting to be stripped from its plastic bag and put to use. And boy, do I have the best idea ever!
I am going to begin the KKTV Wiffle Ball League. Stay tuned to my blog “Baseball Cards, Box Scores and Backyard Ball” for the upcoming details of our inaugural season.
In the meantime, post your comments in the box below with some of your best Wiffle Ball memories and experiences. Because every baseball fan has once owned a Wiffle Ball bat, right?
