For a third straight year College Football's Harris Poll has extended me an invitation to be a Top 25 voter (1 of 114 in the country).  I am honored to be trusted with such a huge responsibility.  It's a role I am passionate about and take very seriously as the Harris Poll is a huge part of the BCS equation that determines who plays for a National Championship.  I will continue to make my votes public on this blog site.  Check in each Sunday morning to see how I voted.  Feel free to leave your thoughts, praise and/or criticisms in the "comment" feature on this page.

Finally!  We are starting to see the Texas team that I envisioned we would at the start of the season when I predicted the Horns to win the national title this year.  Saturday night's win at Oklahoma State was more than convincing...  it sent a statement to the nation that the eyes of the country had better be on Texas down the stretch.   The Longhorns are proving they are more than Colt McCoy and a cast of characters...  McCoy had a modest, yet efficient game against the Cowboys.  It's the defense that is most impressive having picked off Zac Robinson four times, taking two to the house.  Texas has all but punched its ticket to the Big 12 Championship, and likely a berth in the National Championship game too.

Who they will play, of course will likely be decided in Atlanta next month when Florida plays either Alabama or LSU.  The SEC West will be decided next weekend when the 'Tide hosts the Tigers in the "Saban Bowl."  This week, I have Bama at #3 and LSU at #6.

Some voters may punish Iowa this week for struggling against Indiana.  But I sense something special about this team.  The Hawkeyes continue to find ways to win despite adversity.  Without its starting running back, down 14 in the 3rd Quarter, Iowa rallied to win another thriller against the Hoosiers. While not pretty, Iowa continues to put up "W's", and that's good enough for me.

Finally, Oregon... QUACK, QUACK!  The Ducks turned in another impressive performance within the PAC-10.  Saturday night, Jeremiah Masoli and company humbled USC like few have during the Pete Carroll era with a 47-20 win in Eugene.   I have vaulted the Ducks to #8 this week, one spot behind Boise State.  I still cannot rank the Ducks ahead of the undefeated Broncos knowing that Boise won the only head-to-head meeting earlier in the season.  Because of that loss, Oregon will likely be kept out of the national title hunt, but a trip to a BCS bowl game is a nice consolation prize.

Here is how I voted in this week's Harris Poll:

Rank # 1: Florida
Rank # 2: Texas
Rank # 3: Alabama
Rank # 4: Iowa
Rank # 5: TCU
Rank # 6: LSU
Rank # 7: Boise State
Rank # 8: Oregon
Rank # 9: Cincinnati
Rank # 10: Penn State
Rank # 11: Georgia Tech
Rank # 12: USC
Rank # 13: Ohio State
Rank # 14: Utah
Rank # 15: Pittsburgh (Pitt)
Rank # 16: Miami (FLA)
Rank # 17: Houston
Rank # 18: Oklahoma State
Rank # 19: Virginia Tech
Rank # 20: BYU
Rank # 21: Oklahoma
Rank # 22: Arizona

Kathleen... I have a soft spot in my heart for the so-called "mid-major" or "non-automatic bcs qualifying" schools. I love Chris Peterson and his program. You're right, they are a class act! What the Broncos have done over the years is truly amazing! I am looking forward to seeing them crack the BCS again! I hope the other voters and college football see it the same way. Boise deserves it!

Sincere thanks for acknowledging our Boise Bronco Football Team. Remote, on a blue turf, but truly a class act; right down from Coach Pete, all his crew, and every laast player on the team. Preparing every player to succeed in the future by attaining a quality education at Boise State University.
