For the fifth time in his illustrious career, Peyton Manning will win the NFL MVP award for the 2012 season.
Sure, he's coming off multiple neck surgeries. But this season the value of the future MVP may be more evident than ever before. We saw how terrible the Colts were last season without Manning calling the shots behind center. And this year, he will make an immediate impact on the Denver Broncos taking them all the way to the AFC Championship game in his first season outside of Indy.
Manning's numbers won't be the most spectacular, but I expect him to throw for over 3,500 yards to go with 30 touchdowns and 10 or less interceptions. It's his mind that is his most valuable asset and the one that will strategically lead the Broncos to 11 wins through a very tough schedule.
The Broncos will come up one game short of the Super Bowl losing to the Baltimore Ravens. Although the Broncos will come up short of Super Bowl hopes, they will return the following season to win XLVIII in February of 2014.
And with that, here are the rest of my 2012 NFL predictions (by division):
NFC EAST:
NFC NORTH:
NFC SOUTH:
NFC WEST:
NFC PLAYOFF TEAMS: Cowboys, Packers, Falcons, 49ers, Lions, Eagles
NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Falcons defeat 49ers for spot in Super Bowl
AFC EAST:
AFC NORTH:
AFC SOUTH:
AFC WEST:
AFC PLAYOFF TEAMS: Patriots, Ravens, Texans, Broncos, Steelers, Chargers
AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: Baltimore Ravens defeat Denver Broncos
SUPER BOWL XLVII: Baltimore Ravens defeat the Atlanta Falcons 24-20
