So often when we think of “working out”… it feels like just that. Work.
But being active doesn’t have to feel like that. It can be fun too! And this is SUCH an important attitude to have when it comes to our kids and their physical fitness. We don’t want them to feel like being active is another chore to check off their list. That’s not a healthy attitude to have.
That’s why this Saturday, we have the perfect opportunity to get kids excited and re-energized about getting away from the TV and that video game and getting active! It’s the World Wide Day of Play! And let’s face it – what adult do you know that couldn’t use a day like that too.
This is an initiative from the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. I spoke with Cornell McClellan, the personal trainer to President Obama and the First Family, back in August about the need for ALL of us to be more active. “It’s about lifestyle,” he said. “It’s about being active on a daily basis.”
It should be a DAILY goal for all of us to get moving! And we can all get our start this Saturday.

Now get out there and play!
