Start Walking - (Stacia Naquin)

Don't feel like you have to jump into an overwhelming workout to get fit. You can start with something simple... walking. And you can easily find some musical inspiration.

I never realized how many songs talk about… walking.
Seriously! Just a few that came to mind… “These Boots Were Made For Walking” by Nancy Sinatra, “Walk This Way” by Run DMC & Aerosmith, “Walk The Line” by Johnny Cash… the list goes on and on. ((What other songs can you think of??))
So, today, you should take a cue from some of your favorite artists. Get walking! It’s National Start Walking Day. The American Heart Association wants us all to get moving!
It’s a simple solution to a complicated problem. We’ve all heard about the growing problem of growing waistlines across America. But guess what? Just walking for 30-minutes a day can help fight that problem. That’s it! You don’t have to be overwhelmed with the idea of running a marathon or training for a triathlon. Just lace up those sneakers and walk around the block! Bring the dogs with ya!
That’s just one of the great parts about walking. You don’t need fancy equipment. You just need a comfortable pair of sneakers. So, as part of National Start Walking Day, the American Heart Association encouraged everyone to wear sneakers to work! My co-anchor John Harding and I were happy to participate (as you can see from the pic below).
But don’t let today be the only day you put your sneaks on. Just keep ‘em handy, enjoy the gorgeous weather we’ve had lately and Start Walking!!
And if you need some inspiration… you can always put on some “walking” tunes to get you going.
