Shake Your Holiday Groove Thang (Stacia Naquin)

Don't feel bad about missing the gym during the holiday party season. Just get your groove on - you'll burn a ton of calories!

If you’re like me, you’re running around crazy right now – getting ready for Christmas! That’s really making it tough to get to the gym. I have gifts to wrap, family to pick up from the airport, shopping to do and Christmas parties to go to.

But after the KKTV Holiday party over the weekend, I realized something. I don’t have to go to the gym on the day of a holiday party… if I dance.

I know – it sounds weird. But there were a handful of us who were on that dance floor non-stop at our party. The DJ cranked some fun tunes. My friends were there. How could you not have fun getting your shimmy on out there on the dance floor?

Admittedly, I did not wear my Bodybugg. (Hey – it didn’t go with my dress!) So, it’s unfortunate that I didn’t see how many calories I actually burned. But I’m fairly certain it was enough to account for the fun holiday spread we all ate together at the party. And I have a friend who went dancing with some friends recently. She wore her Bodybugg and discovered that she burned around 500 calories in an hour! That’s as much (or more) than any regular tough sweat session at the gym!

Folks, there’s no denying it – dancing is a great cardio workout! So as you hit the holiday party circuit, request your favorite song (everybody has one that they just can’t help but groove to), grab your friends and dance dance dance!

You’ll burn calories, have a great time AND you won’t feel guilty about missing the gym.
