Every year, I begin January with good intentions and plans to really get healthy.
And then something terrible happens… something that COMPLETELY throws off my health plans… the Girl Scouts begin to sell their deliciously wonderful cookies. And I. Can’t. Help. Myself.
That terrifying day of diet-wrecking begins this Friday, January 7th as the cookies officially go on sale. Yes – the Samoas (my fave!), Shortbreads and Thin Mints (my second fave!) will be yours to order. I always order the Samoas for me and the Thin Mints for my mom… and end of eating half of my mom’s order. I. Can’t. Help. Myself.
And maybe you’re able to walk by their sweet little faces outside the grocery store with your iron-clad will power and not order a box. I am not that strong. Plus, we always have a few scouts come on the morning show LIVE (they’ll be on with us this Friday)… and of course they bring samples. And I. Can’t. Help. Myself.
I know what you’re saying – everything in moderation! But I don’t do moderation when it comes to Girl Scout Cookies. I’ll eat almost the whole box (you know, if I’ve had a big lunch). If I’m hungry – I could easily polish off every cookie in my possession. Haha They’re so good! I Just. Can’t. Help. Myself.
But as I mentioned in my last blog, I have a more specific goal of eating something green every day. I’m pretty sure I can keep that goal and STILL eat the Girl Scout Cookies I’m sure to order.
Folks, I’m all for being healthy… but there are some things in life you shouldn’t have to go without. For me, of those things is Girl Scout Cookies. So order some along with me and support your local Troop. They do great things in our community. And if you want to support the scouts and what they do, without adding to your waist-line, you can buy a box and donate a "gift of caring." It could go to a local homeless shelter or for military personnel serving overseas.
