When I’m in the zone, I don’t like anything getting in the way of my workouts. But this time of year, that can be a problem. That’s because it’s cold and flu season. And when a stuffy nose or fever hits you hard, what are you supposed to do? You could call your Mom. (Who better to take care of you?)
((SIDE NOTE: If you’re feeling sick, DEFINITELY don’t go to the gym! PLEASE! You’ll only bring your germs with you. And frankly no one wants what you’ve got.))
But I get it. You don’t want to interrupt your rhythm. So how can you get back on your feet… and fast? Rest is a good place to start. Sleep it off! And drink LOTS of fluids. Those are two things you can do right away. But that’s not it.
It turns out Mom was on to something when she gave you that chicken noodle soup. Yup – it can actually help you get back on your feet faster! How, you say?
Studies have actually shown that chicken soup reduces your symptoms, because it loosens up what's going on in your nose. It can also help with your sore throat and it prevents inflammation, which can make us feel so awful.
So if you feel that cold coming on… reach for chicken soup! It really does help. Make sure and call Mom and tell her she was right. She’ll love that!
