Well, I'm back from Las Vegas.  I have to say, it was very tough trying to stick to my diet plan.  I think I made it through okay.  I admit, I gained a few pounds but I think it could have been a lot worse.

In my last blog I wrote about the help I received from Martha Rosenau, a registered dietitian in Colorado Springs.  She gave me some wonderful advice about dieting and vacation, things like: getting exercise everyday, not eating when I'm full, not snacking all the time, e.t.c.  But there was one piece of advice that I feel really helped me throughout the trip.  Rosenau said that because I have been on a strict diet plan over the last few months I would automatically make better choices on vacation.  She was exactly right.  Sure, I had the bad stuff too but there were many instances where I stayed away from the late night snack, or the ice cream cone after an already huge dinner.

Yes, I still had a few too many calories on my trip but I guarantee I passed up on thousands of extra calories that could have set me back even more once I got home.

Now, it's time to get back on track.  Rosenau says that a lot of people, when they resort back to their old eating habits on vacation, have a hard time getting back on track once they get home.  Instead of losing the extra pounds they gained, they just keep on gaining until they're back to where they started, overweight and unhappy.  I vow NOT to do that.  I only gained a few pounds.  So, it set me back a little bit.  That's okay.  I had fun.  I don't regret anything I did.  I'm ready to continue my journey to a better life style.
