I love a good pair of high heels. I like the way they look. I like the way I feel taller! But sometimes you just have to wear your sneakers, especially when it comes to a workout. It's a lot easier to get out and get active, when your shoes are comfy and not sky high!
Being active is so important for our health. According to the American Heart Association of Colorado Springs, adults need at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week. It offers benefits like lower blood pressure, improved bone health, better sleep and more energy. All of those things are so important for each of us!
And the best part is - getting active doesn't have to be something HUGE or overwhelming. Walking is something everyone can do! And it's great for our health.
So, tomorrow, is the day to kick off those high heels and wear our sneaks! It's National Walking Day! Everyone is encouraged to take at least 30-minutes out of their day to get up and walk.
If you think you may not find the time on your own... make the time with the folks at The Spectranetics Corporation and the American Heart Association! They're hosting a 1K & 5K walk/run as part of National Walking Day! Just head over to 9965 Federal Drive in the Springs at 11:30am tomorrow - Wednesday, April 3rd. Wear your flashiest sneakers and craziest outfit and just hit the pavement! Proceeds go to the American Heart Association.
You can count on the KKTV 11 News morning team to be part of this effort! We're going to kick-off the morning wearing our sneaks. That way we're ready to walk! We hope you'll join us. Wear your sneakers to work. Get out and do some walking. And we'll all be healthier for it!
