If you’ve read any previous KKTV FIT CLUB blogs, you know I’m a HUGE junk food junkie. Big time.
That’s also something I’m trying to work on. Something tells me it’ll be a life-long battle. So I’m stopping to congratulate myself on the smallest of successes in over-coming it.
Here are some ways I’m making that happen:
I always say – my favorite foods come out of a vending machine. Twix, Snickers, Fritos, Cheetos, Gardettos… anything else that ends in –o’s.
But I’m also aware that these things aren’t exactly healthy. For a treat, fine! But not on a daily basis? Not so much.
So I’ve been leaving my change at home. I just don’t bring it to work! That way – when the urge to throw back at bag of Skittles hits me… I just don’t have the money to make it happen!
Simple solution!
But there’s one junk food favorite that I REALLY have a tough time fighting off… mostly because it lures me in with the smell.
A mall pretzel. You know what I’m talking about! Not a rold-gold crunchy number, but a soft pretzel with gooey, warm cheese to dip it in! My mouth is watering just thinking about it… and looking at the picture below! Yum!
But I did it. I actually went to the mall and DIDN’T GET ONE! I know you’re thinking – big woo. Well, for me, it IS a big woo! These pretzels get me every time! And I was actually at the mall with a friend who KNOWS that… and literally could not believe I wasn’t fighting her for the first place in line.
The key for me? I had just eaten – a good mix of protein and carbs. So I wasn’t hungry.
You may be thinking – duh!! And I hear ya. But I never thought about treating the mall like the grocery store!! Never go hungry!
So, that’s my new plan. That’s not to say that I’ll never have a mall pretzel again. I’m sure I will! But as I work to get my junk food habit in check, this is another small success that I’m proud of.
After all, isn’t it all about those small successes leading up to a BIG change? That’s what I’m hoping for!
