Visiting 1 Logan Place

I've been a huge fan of the music of Queen since the mid 70's. When I spotted Freddie Mercury's mansion on a map, I decided to take a look.

I'm not a "see the homes of the stars" kind of guy.  However, while I was looking at a map to find my hotel I spotted a street right around the corner. I'd heard of Logan Place before and I knew that 1 Logan Place was a famous address.

I've been a huge fan of the music of Queen since the mid 70's when I lived in England and they topped the charts regularly. Some time in the 80's singer Freddie Mercury bought a mansion called Garden Lodge, 1 Logan Place.

Since I spotted in on the map I decided to take a look. The street is no more than 100 yards from my hotel. You can't see much of Garden Lodge.   The stone wall is topped with another fence and even razor wire. he wall near the door has a plastic shield to prevent the graffiti that was a problem for years. There were a few handwritten notes slipped under the plastic, just a few so they're probably cleared away  on a  regular basis.

It was just interesting  to see the place where a legend lived....and where he died in November of 1991.   A girlfriend from his early adulthood reportedly inherited much of the a mercury estate, including Garden Lodge.  I've read that when fans ring the door buzzer she sometimes answers and as politely as possible asks them to go away.  I wouldn't even consider doing that.

It was just interesting to know that a man who created some amazing music came up with some of it right there within those walls.

Well talk again soon.
