The Wight Stuff (Don Ward)

On a recent trip to England I decided to see what kind of images I could capture with just an iPhone 5.  Some of the pictures have been adjusted for brightness and some have been cropped.

The Isle of Wight is just off the Southern coast of England. You can get there by ferry boat from Southampton.  It's an easy day trip from the London area, or even the Midlands.

Here's a shot on the island, of the chalk cliffs in the distance.

The coastline is developed in some spots, but much of it remains as farm fields and open space.

Off the Northwest coast in Alum Bay is a famous formation, a chalk outcropping called The Needles.

You loose some resolution when you zoom in with the phone but this does give you an idea of what the formation looks like. Note the lighthouse at the far end.

A final shot of the distant cliffs from the rocky beach.

The Isle of Wight is worth the trip if you ever get the chance.  I loved it!

We'll talk again soon.
