A PICTURE FROM THE PAST
Our nation remembered a popular President this weekend. Ronald Reagan would have turned 100 years old on Sunday. There was a special celebration for him at the Ronald Reagan Library in Southern California.
Nancy Reagan talked about the fact that her Ronnie would have been thrilled to have everyone there to share the event. She ended with "Happy Birthday Ronnie!"
Here at KKTV we had to look no further than a wall in a back hallway to find our quick connection to the Great Communicator. Take a look.
This photo was taken in our 11 News Studios. A yellowed piece of paper with a typed caption taped to the back tells us only that it was taken in the early 1960's. It says Ronald Reagan was visiting KKTV in his then-capacity as the host of GE Theatre. It also says those pictured with him are station manager Jim Russell and KKTV Newsman Bill Hickey.
That's all we know. It's not a lot but it's enough to appreciate the fact that a man who had already accomplished a lot was here. No one in that picture could have guessed that the man in the middle would go on to accomplish so much more.
We'll talk again soon.
