A STREET/STRING QUARTET WITH A BIG SOUND
I'm writing a series of blogs about a recent trip to Europe..trying to tell stories beyond the typical travel tales.
We've all seen and heard street performers in big cities. Sometimes they're pretty good. These musicians set up in a shopping area in the heart of the old city of Munich...the area leading to Marienplatz.
They played right up against the store fronts in a spot that was also covered above. This amplified their sound and made it huge. Clearly these weren't buskers, they were professional musicians at some level.
The best thing is that they seemed to have so much fun playing their way through Mozart, Beethoven, and in this piece Vivaldi, and others. The violinist 2nd from the left played it all with no sheet music and carried himself more like a guitarist in a rock band!
This was great! The phone video/audio on the link below really doesn't do it justice but take a look if you have a couple of minutes.
We'll talk again soon.
