ENOUGH BLOGGING FOR A BOOK
I started this blog about a year and a half ago as a "let's see how it goes" kind of a thing. It went pretty well, so I kept it going.
Since "The Written Ward" started it's had tens of thousands of page views. It's garnered comments from all over the world. The on-air version of it has won an Emmy Award. It's been read and re-posted by a world famous rock star and even quoted by Maclean's which us apparently Canada's equivalent of "Time Magazine." Here's the link to that.
Last week I wrote a blog entry here called "For John" and it was entry number 200 in "The Written Ward" "For John" is one of my favorites out of all 200. Check it out it you haven't...here's the link.
Since it just hit a milestone number of entries I thought I'd link you back to some of my other favorites. How about 11 of them since we're 11 News? The archive system at kktv.com was just expanded so now these are all available.
I chose mostly older ones because when this whole thing first started, not many people knew about it, so many of these had very limited exposure. I really like them and I thought you might too. Some of them are funny or silly. Some of them are pretty personal. All of them were written to give 11 News viewers and kktv.com followers a chance to get to know me..if you want to. If you don't that's ok too. None of them are political. I decided from the beginning that there are plenty of other places for that. Nobody cares what I think about the issues.
We'll start funny and silly..a little insight into some of the dark side..really the light side of TV News.
Here's one about my hair...because someone asked. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/84533277.html This is really part of the same one..the follow up, about the awful thing they made me do. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/87159122.html
What do we wear?...everything. This is the one that somehow got quoted in that Canadian magazine. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/80646412.html
This one got a lot of interest at the end of last year..the question still hasn't really hasn't been answered! http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/79765717.html
I realy like music so sometimes I blog about it. I never, ever expected this one to get noticed by its subject! http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/78257912.html
Another music piece..but also one of the more memorable stories I've covered as a reporter. I like writing about those. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/50986172.html
Not a story I covered but a duty I performed as a TV guy...it did not go well. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/51142757.html
Another memorable story...a brief moment with an American legend. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/47402382.html
This was an explanation of how our website works..and why it works. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/66737842.html
A lot more serious now. Here's a story I'll never forget. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/60794522.html
This one from November, 2009 speaks for itself. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/68696692.html
This is a favorite from June 2009. I hope you enjoy it. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/49116862.html
I really like writing these when I get a few minutes between newscasts and other duties. I hope you enjoy reading them and that you'll keep checking back for new ones. You can leave your comments on any of the blog entries.
I never really expected to reach 200. At about one page or so each it really is enough for a book. It would be a pretty strange book though, a book about 200 different things.
We'll talk again soon.
