I love English football (soccer). The Premier League is the best of the best. It's difficult to get tickets to some of the marquis match-ups but a few of the teams aren't quite as popular as a Manchester United or a Liverpool. This match was at a stadium in London called Craven Cottage. Its the home field for a team called Fulham. They hosted Swansea City on Saturday and I managed to get tickets in the first row behind on of the goals. It's not the best perspective to see what's happening but it was amazing to see and even hear the players up close. This phone picture doesn't do it justice. The atmosphere at these matches is superb. The stadium only holds 25 thousand or so, but it sounds, like twice that many....fans from both teams yelling, screaming, chanting and singing at the tops of their voices the whole time.
In the end the game wasnt great but the experience was. Swansea won 3-0. Fulham hit the crossbar of the goal right I front of us near the end. That shot was by American superstar Clint Dempsey. He's one of the most successful US players ever in the Premier League. In the middle of this very English Sports experience it was cool to see an American who's made a name for himself in this very English sport.
We'll talk again soon.
