Great Christmas things to do this weekend in the Springs!

Here's a three-part plan to kick your Christmas cheer into high gear!

Part 1)    Start out Saturday afternoon, maybe about 4:30 or so.  Head to downtown Colorado Springs, Tejon between St. Vrain and Vermijo.  Find a nice spot along the sidewalk and stop.  That's where you can see the 26th annual Festival Of Lights parade!  Before the parade passes by you'll have seen more than a hundred colorful, festive floats and bands and other displays....high holiday cheer factor!   Alternative plan....watch this whole thing live on kktv.com or My KKTV (ch 41 on Comcast or digital channel 11.2) starting at 5:50.  Shannon Brinias and I will anchor our coverage of the parade.  We'll also air it on tape on KKTV 11 on Christmas morning.

Part 2)     Stay downtown Saturday night .  Head right down Cascade to the Pikes Peak Center.  That's where the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony presents its Annual Holiday Concert. The CSYS features hundreds of talented teens and pre-teens from all over the Pikes Peak Region.  Six different ensembles from the Symphony will perform Christmas pops and some more classical oriented pieces too.  You won't believe how great these kids sound!  Show time is 7:30. You can get tickets at the Pikes Peak Center box office or by calling 520-SHOW.  You can also book on line at ticketswest.com

Part 3)     Back downtown again, back at the Pikes Peak Center and Sunday at 3pm,  for more amazing music. This time it's the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale. Nothing says "Christmas" like kids...and you'll see and hear hundreds of them here.  Take yours along to see the show. The call it "'Tis the Season - Here We Come a-Caroling". It's a trip back in time to the traditional Christmas music of Victorian England.  If you've never heard these kids sing you are in for a treat.  We just sent a crew to their rehearsal to get some video for an in-studio interview on 11 News at 4pm on Friday.  Reporter Sarah Schwabe came back and said, "They're great!" They really are.  Tickets are $9.00 to $20.00 and available at the Pikes Peak Center Box Office or you can buy them over the phone at 520-SHOW.

If you do all three....that's a big Colorado Springs Weekend!  Even if you only do one or two, you'll have a great time!

We'll talk again soon.
