SOME SAY THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS
I'm posting a few blogs about my recent trip to England. I'm lucky enough to have been there several times. This time, with help from some English friends, I tried to go to some places I'd never been before. This is one of them.
It is a nation known for rolling hills, green countryside and spectacular views. Is this the best view in England? Take a look at the views from a place called Sutton Bank. It's the top of a ridge, almost a cliff, overlooking the moors below.
This is part of the North Yorkshire Moors National park in the North of England.
It is such a high point in the area, such a perfect overview, that it was apparently the site of a fort built in the iron age..about 400 BC! Stand here and you can see why, you can see everything for miles.
I was there on a cloudy and hazy day. There are pictures of this spot that are much better than these.
You can still understand, even from these pictures, why some say these are the best views in England. So who says that?
The quote come from none other than the late James Herriot. He's the veterinarian and hugely popular author of "All Creatures Great and Small". Herriot moved to Yorkshire when he was 23, and spent the rest of his life there. He lived in a small town called Thirsk. It's right near the Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales, just a few miles .........from Sutton Bank. Take a look and you really can't argue with him!
We'll talk again soon.
