A WONDERFUL EVENT FOR AN IMPORTANT CAUSE
It's not too late to sample a some of what Colorado Springs has to offer....wait, a lot of what Colorado Springs has to offer!
"Taste of the Springs" is this Sunday at the Crowne Plaza off I-25 and Circle. I'll start with why it's a wonderful event. Take a look a the long list of businesses that will be offering up samples what they sell....WOW! You can also spend $15 to spin a wheel to win gift certificates worth at least $25. That's a good deal!

Unfortunately many of our neighbors are hungry right now, they're hungry all the time. Many children, way too many children, in the Pikes Peak region will go to bed hungry tonight. Care and Share does all it can to prevent that.
In fiscal year 2008, Care and Share distributed 11 million pounds of food through about 400 agencies in dozens of Southern Colorado counties. That's a staggering amount of food...but it gets worse. By fiscal year 2009 it was 14.6 million pounds of food. For the year that ended June first the distribution total was 18 million pounds of food!
"Taste of the Springs" is part of the "Campaign To End Summer Hunger 2010". It's sad that we need such a campaign, but it's good that Care and Share is there to run it. There's a public service announcement about the campaign running right now before movies at Cinemark Theaters in the area. Here's a picture from the day a few weeks ago when Shannon Brinias and I recorded that piece at the Care and Share complex.
We are proud to be the emcees for "Taste of the Springs" on Sunday. If you'd like to go, here's a link to get tickets.
If you can, please go to the event. If you can't, please go to http://www.careandshare.org/ and consider making a donation. Every dollar helps get a meal. Every meal helps decrease the chance that another child will go to bed hungry. That's money well spent.
We'll talk again soon
