THE ON-CAMERA VERSION OF THIS BLOG IS UP FOR AN EMMY
Sometimes I'll take something I've written for this blog and put it together as a piece for TV. Sometimes I'll take something I wrote for TV and use it as a blog entry here at "The Written Ward" Either way, I wrote it so it fits the rules for the blog.....there are no rules for the blog.
It's not the silly ones like "Do Anchors Wear Pants" that I put on TV. http://www.kktv.com/blogs/blogwithdon/80646412.html
it's the more serious, or at least more socially relevant ones that make it on the air. The entry for the Emmy Awards included three of the segments from the blog that I did on the air. Here are links to the blog entries as they appeared here.
This first one is about a good friend and how we all need to make the most of every day.
The second piece is about all the Southern Colorado Heroes we've lost in the wars.
This last one is about facebook and why I finally caved and joined, and what I like about it and what I don't like about it.
The on-air versions of all three of these were put together as a composite entry in the category Commentator/Editorialist. I've won Emmy Awards in the past in the region that included Cincinnati. Those were for reporting. I've had a many other nominations for work I did in Denver and Louisville, KY, and Cincinnati, but those were all for reporting or writing. I've never been nominated before in a category like this one. This region, buy the way, includes Denver, Oklahoma City and many other smaller markets in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Wyoming. We'll see what happens.
A final note. I've never won an Emmy when I've actually gone to the ceremony. This one is on a Sunday night in July, a work night for me during a ratings month...so I doubt I'll go. Maybe that will help! I'll blog about it either way!
We'll talk again soon.
