We Have Some Fit Folks At KKTV
It was a sweaty Saturday and maybe a sore Sunday for some staffers from 11 News..but it's a good kind of sore. That's because it was for a good cause. The goal at Gold's Gym was to raise $7,000 for the American Diabetes Association. They won't have final totals until Wednesday, I'll update then. I'm pretty sure that our 11 News team came up with close to a thousand. We'll see. Below, Morning Anchor Stacia Naquin and Reporter Lisa McDivitt.
This was a spin-a-thon, an hour (or more for some) on a stationary bike with an instructor yelling out instructions (commands) to work harder (almost collapse). It's good fun. Here's my co-anchor Shannon Brinias...still looking good mid-workout.
Diabetes is a killer that affects 23 million Americans..and the numbers grow every day. I want to thank my co-workers fro being part of this. I have several family members who are affected by it, including my oldest nephew John, 14, who was diagnosed with type 1 as a young child. Here's me (right) next to Weekend Anchor David Nancarrow. I think this is Dave's third year of spinning, thanks Dave! Behind Dave is Executive Producer Mark Lammers, and behind me, Weekend Anchor McKenzie Martin.
Finally our whole group: In the back, Mark, me, McKenzie. Middle row: Shannon, Stacia, Reporter/Forecaster Sarah Schwabe, and kktv.com Web Director Leslie Fichera. front: Dave and Lisa. Everyone got through the hour just fine. We really do have some fit folks at 11 News! You can see more pictures at the kktv facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/album.php?aid=161643&id=44428318380
If you don't know someone with diabetes now, you will soon. There's lots of information here: http://www.diabetes.org/
Up next for the ADA..the annual walkathon at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on November 6th. I hope to get more 11 News-ers and more of you out there for that!
We'll talk again soon.
