SNOW STOPS THE SHOW
Anything can happen in Colorado anywhere near winter time!
This was supposed to be the scene tonight at the First Bank Center, a 6,500 seat arena between Denver and Boulder. The popular rock band Muse was scheduled to take the stage for a sold-out show.
It didn't happen. Colorado happened!
The Tour was headed to Northern Colorado from Salt Lake City. Right now Vail Pass is right in the center of a storm which started last night. It's wicked winter-like weather the likes of which these band members from the South of England probably don't often experience... Hopefully they've been playing in the snow and having some fun! I'd rather they were playing on stage..because I was supposed to be one of the 6,500!
I talked to 11 News Chief Meteorologist Brian Bledsoe. He says Vail pass will have 6 to18 inches of snow by the time it's all over! Here's the real problem...the wind is blowing at 20 to 40 to miles per hour! Wow. That'll stop any tour in its tracks. Here's what was posted on the Muse twitter page.
"Sorry we couldn't make it to Denver (our trucks and buses got stuck in the snow about 150 miles from the venue!) Big apologies."
Apologies accepted Matt Bellamy and bandmates. It can happen to any of us...it often does around here! They also promised to come back and play in Denver on October 2nd.
That's great, but it's at Pepsi Center. Tonight's venue holds 6,500 - Pepsi Center - , more like 18,000 for a concert with an end-stage. So the snow-no-show--rescheduled-show won't have nearly the same intimacy as the one I should be watching right now! Remember this is a band that sells out stadiums in Europe....70 to 80 thousand. It was amazing to have a chance to see them in such a small place here. Oh well, I'd rather see them anywhere than not see them at all.
My other worry...October 2nd. October! Yeah, normally our weather is still OK then.....but...
Anything can happen in Colorado anywhere near winter time.!
We'll talk again soon.
