JESSE'S DEBUT, JOHN'S RETURN
Our new sports director is on the job, and officially in the chair. Jesse Kurtz took over last Sunday, his first day of work after John Owens retired. Shannon Brinias, Brian Bledsoe and I are thrilled to have Jesse with us now as part of the anchor team. Jesse has been here fro 6 years..sort of in the on-deck spot. John left us after 29 years. We're sad to see him go, but pleased that Jesse now gets a chance to step up to the plate. Jesse has won so many state and regional awards that we've all but stopped keeping stats. He's a great writer with a great delivery and a real nose for the point of the story. He's sports with soul. Just watch his work and you'll see what I mean.
Here he is in the first moment of his first on-air appearance (his first at-bat) as the Sports Director at KKTV.
I had the honor of saying," 11 News Sports Director Jesse Kurtz is with us now..." , and Jesse Kurtz is with us now, hopefully for a very long time. And the man who left after such a long time? John Owens is gone, but not forgotten...heck he's not even gone!
John will be with us on Sunday, working the Broncos game, reporting from the locker room like has has hundreds of times before! It's some of the every-once-in-a-while work John's going to do for KKTV. We told you he'd be around!
So I'm looking forward to Sunday. We've got the Broncos against the Raiders on KKTV, and we've got it covered on 11 news..the new guy at the desk, and the not-quite-so-new guy at the game. See you Sunday.
We'll talk again soon.
