THIS ROCKED ME!
It's always nice when someone appreciates your work.
My last blog article was all about the song "We Will Rock You" by the British band Queen and the fact that it has been declared the most played at American sports venues. I went on to share 11 facts (because we're 11 News) about the song and its composer, guitarist Brian May. Here he is in a concert from May 2005, in Newcastle, England. This photo was taken by a friend who stood near us for the show..great spot huh?
Here is in a quieter moment of the concert.
Fact Number 12....Brian May saw the article , read it and put it on his own website..Wow! Here's the link.
http://brianmay.com/whatsnew.html It's under the date November 30th and it's re-titled "11 Trivia Facts About We Will Rock You"
When I saw it on Brianmay.com I sent an e-mail to the contact address on the site, thanking them for finding it and posting it. I also mentioned that I had seen Queen with the late Freddie Mercury just once, in Denver in 1982, and that I was thrilled to have my article on their site. I never expected my e-mail to get through to the guitar legend himself......it did. Then, my favorite guitar player ever wrote back to me! With his permission I'll share some of what Dr. May wrote.
"Ah, what a small and incredibly fast-connected world we live in. it was only this evening sent the piece to Jen to put up on site."
Jen must run the site, but it means Brian May himself read the article and decided it was good enough for his site....wow. He also added.
"Denver eh? Remember it well."
Side-note...Queen's first ever U.S. appearance was at Regis College in Denver, 1974, opening for Mott The Hoople. That 1982 show was the only time they made it back to our state. Rock's Royal Virtuoso closed his note as follows:
"Thanks, it's a very nice honour.....more power to ya' Cheers, Bri."
Cheers to you too Dr. May, what an honor (honour) for me!
The fact that he read something I wrote about something he wrote....is something I'll never forget. I'll think of it every time I hear STOMP-STOMP-CLAP!..and we all know how often we hear that (see previous blog).
It's always nice when someone appreciates your work...especially when that someone is one of your personal heroes.
We'll Talk Again Soon.
