CU vs CSU

A season opener on a Sunday Night. It was all great...except the game.

Sunday Night Football in Boulder.......stinks.

I love football. I love football season.  I love the CU Buffs.  I hate CU vs CSU.

Sunday night was exactly why this game is always a drag.  CU is expected to win, every year, so if they do, no big deal.  If they don't the rams go home happy as Superbowl Champions.

I have season tickets to the Buffs game and there is always a group of us, 15 or 20 people, who get together before the games.  It's mostly my old Fraternity Brothers from CU and all the Wives or Girlfriends who have also become great friends over the years, and after all this time, it's often some of the kids too.  It's wonderful to see them all after what we call non-friends season....without football games it's harder to get everyone together.  This time the game was moved to Sunday so one couple hosted a lot of us for a party at their house the night before.  That was great too.

Then came the game.  It was over early.  CSU dominated the first half in a way that made Buffs fans cringe.  I was left thinking, "I took a day off of work, for this?"  I'm no football analyst, so I'll just say this.  Credit where it's due, CSU is always ready for the first game of the season.....CU is not.  That's why I wish this was not the first game of the season.  Here's a random shot from the 4th quarter, after CU had run out of chances to come back for the win.

The best part of all this was getting to see a lot of great friends for the first time in a long time.  We'd have been better off having another barbecue than sitting through this.  It could be a long season in Boulder, but at least it's Boulder. Below is a pretty shot of the sun setting over the west side of Folsom Field.

Let's hope the sun hasn't already set on the season for the Buffs.

We'll talk again soon.

Don
