If you do you'll see a photo and a note congratulating you for winning a $1,000 Best Buy Gift Card Shopping Spree.

It looks totally legit, but Best Buy says it's not giving away any gift cards or shopping sprees.

If you provide your email, the next screen asks for your contact information so your gift card can be sent to you.

Remember, criminals love this kind of information. We're talking about your name, address, date of birth, and phone numbers.

Then the next screen says you have to complete a survey. Again, it's all required to get your gift card. Don't do it.

Others say they've received similar offers from crooks impersonating Walmart and other big box stores.

Just remember, anyone can send you a smart looking email. Just be skeptical of any such offer.

If in doubt, call the store in question or visit its website. Don't ever click on a link you're suspicious about... it's not worth the risk.

Crooks just sent a message to an 11News smartphone. It claims we've been selected for a $1,000 shopping spree. It's all a bunch of baloney!

The message asks you to go to another site.

My dog and the dog in the apt. below me were poisoned December 3rd. My dog died. We live at 818 Western Dr. I saw your story tonight. Thanks for warning others. This person needs to be caught. We got Midnight from Dreampower 9 1/2 yrs. ago. He was loved by the whole neighborhood.
