Hang Up on Western Renewal Service (Betty Sexton

Don't be fooled by crooks claiming to be with a magazine subscription company. They're just doing what crooks do... trying to get your personal information... like your credit card number.

The next time your phone rings it could be a thief on the other end claiming to be with Western Renewal Service. The callers are apparently using a couple of different scenarios... like saying there's a problem with the magazines you ordered.

Katie Carrol with the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado says someone in Denver got such a call. The crooks claim they can charge you $40 to $50 a month... with a total fee of $1,500! Don't fall for it.

Although the company claims to be located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, it's location is a virtual office... so no telling where the crooks really are.

The bottom line is they want you to say the word, "yes" and they're looking to get your credit card number. They may even claim to have your number already. Just hang up. Don't talk to them. If you have any questions, holler. I can be reached at (719) 578-0000.
