Beware of Offers Related to Death of Steve Jobs (Betty Sexton)

Who wouldn't want a free ipad! Sadly, crooks are trying to cash in on the death of former Apple CEO, Steve Jobs.

Some are making bogus offers. They're claiming to give away ipads, iphones, and mac books all in memory of Steve Jobs, but don't fall for them.

One Facebook scam offered ipads to the first 1,000 users who click on a link and share their comments about Jobs.

Of course they also ask you to complete a survey and are waiting for you to input your personal information... you know, the kind you shouldn't share with a stranger.

In just a few hours time, 25,000 people from around the globe visited the site... all hoping to score a free ipad.

Realize that the criminals' goals are to steal your personal info for use later and to install viruses on your computer.

Katie Carrol with the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado warns... the crooks are good at capitalizing on current events.

Katie says, "We've seen this before with the death of Michael Jackson and the election of President Obama. Anytime there's a big news event, the scammers are there."

You can expect to see more scams in the coming weeks.

Some might ask you to donate to one of Steve Jobs' favorite charities or offer you free picture of his funeral if you click on their link.

Just remember nothing's free... everything comes with strings attached... including an Apple.
