They're back! These guys travel the country... so it's not unusual that they're cruising the streets of Colorado Springs again. I did a story on these crooks a year ago... and now I'm warning you about them again. The hustlers are targeting men and offering great deals on state of the art stereo equipment, which is sold right out of the back of their van or SUV. They like to hang around banks or ATMs so you don't have an excuse to get some cash. They offer equipment reportedly worth $2,000 for anywhere from $200-$400... depending on how much they can get from you. They also have slick pamphlets which are very convincing. Don't fork over any dough to these guys!!! They're looking for spontaneous shoppers who won't research the products they're buying. We had an expert check out their equipment. We were told it wasn't worth a couple hundred, let alone a couple thousand dollars. Thanks to Mario Rivera who let us know they're back in town. He's a serviceman who was approached. The slick salesmen told him he'd get a great deal ... as thanks for serving in the military. Soldiers stay away from these jokers! Don't buy their stories. Others we've interviewed were told the prices were discounted because they had too many home theater systems and had to get rid of them... or their boss would be angry if they returned to the warehouse with the equipment. Remember this... these guys are crooks. They don't have a license to do business in Colorado. They don't have a sales tax license so they aren't paying taxes to the state of Colorado. If you have a problem with your purchase, you have nowhere to go for help. Don't hand over your hard earned money in exchange for a subpar product. If you see these guys, call me at the station, (719) 578-0000... I'd like to confront them in person! |
