Ken tells me he received two calls. During the first, the man on the other end explained that he wanted to deliver a check to Ken's house. Ken smelled a rat and said he wasn't interested. In fact, he told the guy... he knew this was a scam... which the man denied.

Shortly afterwards Ken took a second call from Jamaica. The man was more insistent.. which made Ken angry. He told the caller he had already reported his first call to police and if a man showed up at his door... a police officer would arrest him. That worked. The man hung up and hasn't called back since.

The area code 876 is associated with a lot of scams. You might assume just because the number starts with 8... it might be a toll-free call... it isn't. One thing I've learned to do... and it might be helpful for you, too.... I do a google search of a number I don't recognize before taking the call. The information you get there often will help you decide if it's worth taking the call or not. In some cases you can be charged for taking an international call... or worse. Just remember 876--- means Jamaica... and stay away.
