The first H1N1 clinic in El Paso County has finished a full day of successfully administering thousands of vaccinations to county residents.
More than 2100 people got a vaccine. The El Paso County Department of Health and Environment says it was prepared to vaccinate 3,000 people.
11 News spoke with the first El Paso County resident to get the vaccination. Jasmine Law, a junior at Coronado High School said she grew more concerned after her friends and teachers at her school started getting sick with the H1N1 virus. "I think it's smart," said Law. "It's a quick pinch. It barely hurts. It's worth it."
The clinic opened at 10 a.m. at Coronado High School Wednesday to a line of hundreds who had been waiting since as early as 5:30 a.m. Just an hour after the doors opened, a sign was posted outside the clinic saying they had run out of the vaccines, however, the health department said a short time later that they recounted the supply of vaccines and had enough to keep the clinic open until the end of the day. The clinic closed around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The extra doses from Wednesday's clinic will be used at the county's next H1N1 vaccination clinic, which is slated for Friday, November 13 at New Life Church. That clinic will open at 8:30 a.m. The El Paso County Health Department says approximately 1500 doses of the vaccine will be available there.
Vaccines are provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Please remember, you must be part of the "high risk" group in order to be given a vaccine.

If they had extra doses why did they close the clinic early. They were scheduled to be open until 7, I arrived at 5 with my children and were told they were closed. I took 2 hours of sick time to get out of work and go only to be turned away.
We went at noon, we waited 90 minutes but by the time we left there was no line. Also, those not in the high risk category WERE being vaccinated.
I went there around 2:30 their was no line and it took about 15 minutes from the time I pulled up to the school. I am surprised the news wasn't informing the public there was no waiting line.
